I truly believe we learn at a young age that we “can’t do something” and it follows us into our adult lives.
When a baby is developing, we see them try and try while the parent cheers the baby on. Then we clap/give praise through the whole process whether they do the thing or not.
Then the child continues to develop, they continue to try things, it gets hard and we see them “give up”. Or they stop in frustration.
Now there is a lot happening in this moment, but I want to keep this message simple.
We feel the frustration, we have to try again or we see someone else do it “better”. Insert limiting beliefs.
We grow up into adults and I can’t tell you how many times I hear, I was never athletic, I never played sports.
This does not depict your level of health.
We put a limiting belief that we can’t workout like that or I’m just not good at that.
I am a firm believer you can get “good” at anything you want. Good is relative and let’s be real, does it really need to be that good. (My name is Arin Lindauer, and I am a recovering perfectionist.)
Now I am talking a little in the clouds right now.
We use weights as our mode, but we place limits on ourselves when in reality we need to understand the level of motivation.
When someone gets diagnosed with an illness, I see the level of motivation go through the roof and making change, doing everything in their power to survive.
Why don’t we walk around with that kind of motivation every day?
The pain is not great enough.
I want to encourage you to do anything you want. If it’s getting your health back on track, start taking the steps. If you want to make a career move, do it. If you want the car, the house, whatever…start taking the steps to get there.
The only thing standing in your way is you.
I know this is a bit in your face, I am saying this to myself too.
What are you limiting yourself on? What’s holding you back?
Start dreaming again…what do you want out of life?
