Today I wanted to talk about getting uncomfortable.
I talk about it when I am coaching clients with weight loss.
Hear me out on this topic because it just might be what you need to push to that next edge.
Be ok with getting a bit uncomfortable.
Now you might be like, ok, but give me some examples.
When you change up your nutrition and start eating better you may notice a grumble toward the end of the night in your stomach.
Within reason, we want to make sure you have eaten enough, but for most of us if we want to lose weight we have been overconsuming and so when you reduce your calories (to an appropriate range for you) you will feel discomfort.
Here’s the thing, it’s ok, you are not starving and to be genuine we don’t know what true hunger really feels like.
I coach clients to get through this very short period, meaning it typically lasts 3-7 days.
Then your stomach adjusts.
Or another example is with doing an exercise, again within appropriate ranges for you, see how what you can do to increase resistance or add a few more reps again if that is appropriate.
The point that I want to drive home is to be ok with getting a bit uncomfortable, it just might be what you need to get over that hump or edge.
I’ll share a quick story, I have been pushing a heavy sled at the end of my workouts since the start of this year.
4 plates to be exact.
I decided yesterday it was feeling pretty “easy”. (I can’t believe I am admitting this out loud!)
So I threw the 5th plate on.
Cranked the intensity up just a bit, lol.
But doable.
You don’t know till you try.
Did it get me uncomfortable, oh ya, breathing heavy but the discomfort lasts such a short amount of time?
Be ok with getting uncomfortable to reach that next level, that next goal.
You got this!
