For the month of May TFW will be honoring its mother who have chosen health and fitness as a priority in their lives and their family’s lives. Given all of the roles and commitments our mothers provide their loved ones with, we know this isn’t easy and we are hoping to inspire you today with these two stories.

On May 19, 2009, Kim’s mom had an aneurysm and stroke due to stress and high blood pressure. Six months later– she became her caregiver with the shift of the parent/child dynamic. Over the next year, Kim’s healthy cooking and exercise routines became more focused with the intent of establishing habits for not only herself, but her mom as well. As a result, the strengths of the medications she was prescribed were reduced and some cases, eliminated. Six years later, Kim’s mom is still the vibrant woman she always has been and her chronic conditions are stabilized and under control.
Why is it important? In the simplest terms, because she loves her mom! But beyond that, both Kim and her mom believe these are practices that contribute to the best quality of life we may possibly have and pass down from generation to generation.
Kim’s advice to others is:
“When it comes to nutrition and eating well, stick to the basics fresh fruits and vegetables, and lean meats! Be creative with seasonings. Drink plenty of water!!! Kinda sounds like what we hear from TFW!”

Caron is a healthy mom because she is proactive about keeping herself balanced. She schedules time in her day for herself and this allows her to run errands, workout, have a coffee break, or just some time alone. She does this so that when she is with her kids they get her undivided attention.
Caron wants to be a role model for her children and wants to see how important it is to take care of your body.
Caron’s advice to other mothers is:
“Let it go. You will always have laundry, dishes, cleaning but your children will only want you and your attention for so long before they are grown.”
